SC-03A 3HP to 150HP Industrial Air Cooled Water Chiller for Cooling System
Air Cooled Scroll Chiller, also known as air cooled type water chiller, air cooling water chiller, or air cooling water machine. The cooling capacity can be selected from 6KW to 375KW. It is recommended to use a screw compressor water chiller when the cooling capacity exceeds 150KW. The maximum cooling temperature can reach -25ºC.
Industrial chillers are refrigeration systems used to cool processes, equipment, or materials in various industrial applications. They work by removing heat from a liquid (usually water or a water-glycol mixture) through a vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycle. The chilled liquid is then circulated through a heat exchanger or directly to the equipment needing cooling, where the heat is absorbed and transferred to a secondary fluid.
Air cooled water chillers are mainly applied to a cooling process in molding of plastic film and PE plastics bags or other industries. The chiller will greatly improve the quality of molded products and shorten the period of injection molding cycles. The main difference is the way of heat radiation by fans compared to water cooled chillers.
There are three main interrelated systems: refrigerant circulation system, water circulation system, and electrical control system.
Working Principle
Industrial Chiller is a kind of water cooling equipment that can provide constant water or water-glycol mixture temperature, constant current, and constant pressure. Its working principle is to inject a certain amount of water into the tank of the machine first, through the refrigeration system to cool the water, and then by the pump to cool the low temperature cooling water into the equipment. The chilled water will take the heat away after the temperature rises and then return to the tank, to achieve the role of cooling. Cooling water temperature can be automatically adjusted according to requirements, long-term use can save water. Therefore, the chiller is a standard energy-saving equipment.

The refrigerant circulation system: The liquid refrigerant in the evaporator absorbs the heat in the water and begins to evaporate. Finally, a certain temperature difference is formed between the refrigerant and the water. The liquid refrigerant also completely evaporates into the gas phase and is then inhaled and compressed by the compressor (pressure and temperature increase). After being throttled through the expansion valve (or capillary), low temperature and low pressure refrigerant enters the evaporator to complete the refrigerant circulation process.
The water circulation system: It is a cycle where chilled water from the tank enters the system via the circulation pump. The hot water from the system returns to the chiller. When the actual temperature is higher than the set temperature, the compressor starts to work. The refrigerant system absorbs the heat load of the water.
The electrical automatic control system: Includes power supply part and automatic control part. The power supply part provides power to the contactor, compressor, fan, and water pump. Automatic control includes temperature controller, pressure protection, delay device, relay, overload protection, and other mutual combinations to achieve automatic startup and stop of the root temperature, protection, and other functions. Monitors and regulates the chiller's operation to maintain desired temperatures.
Evaporator: Water or air enters the chiller system. Through the use of refrigerant, it is transformed into a low-pressure gas.
Compressor: Takes low-pressure gas and compresses it to a higher pressure, which in turn allows it to flow through to the next step, the condenser.
Condenser: The high-pressure gas is cooled by refrigerant, whereby it converts back to low-pressure liquid form.
Expansion Valve: The liquid returns to the expansion valve and is directed back to the evaporator, and the cycle is repeated.
Based on different types of the condenser:
- Air-Cooled Chillers: Equipped with fans and radiator-fin type condenser. Use air to heat dissipation. Advantages: Easy installation. Disadvantages: Less efficient in high-temperature environments.
- Water-Cooled Chillers: Equipped with shell and tube type condenser. Use water to heat dissipation. Advantages: Higher efficiency, better for large-scale operations. Disadvantages: Require a cooling tower and water pump for installation.
